Magus / Forgemage Quick n Easy guide

The system for magus-type (specialization) jobs has changed with the new update and you no longer get experiences based on the power of the item you try to mage. Many have message me on how to level magus and forgemage jobs. There are some popular questions which i will try to answer to my best knowledge or personal experience, having made 3x Magus jobs after the new update.

Question: Why did they change the system?
Answer: My personal take is that they have made it easier to get runes now, with the shattering feature in magus workshop. You get lots of runes by shattering items with stats on them, especially for items with Pods or Initiative.

Question: What is the best item to get runes from?
Answer: Bags with pods are the best. Gobball Belts are pretty good too, and they sell cheaply in sellrooms. So just grab a bunch and shatter them. I personally bought / gathered some materials for the Great Grower's Bag (Green Color nasty bag), find an upcoming leveling tailor such as kiwiwheat or spacecomm and have them make my bags for free. They get the exp, you get pretty much 90-95% for your bags. A great grower bag will yield on average 400-500 Pod runes for you to do your leveling.

Question: What item do you level on? It is troublesome to always have to select the item to mage each time and reload does not work.
Answer: You have to find the items that work best for you. I use thousands of nimbly rings (with +1agi - you will know why later) for jewelmagus, thousands of lucky belts for shoemagus and just 2x hammersmith hammers (hammers with no stats) for hammer forgemage. Carry a bunch of them and you can make the reload works.

Question: How does the experience works in the new system and what is the best way to level?
Answer: It is a different scenario to level shoemagus / jewelmagus vs other jobs. Key reason is, there are no rings /amulets or shoes / belts that has 0 stat-points by default. And that make a difference. So let's start with the simple thing. The best way is to level up with pod runes (lvl 10 rune). You get heaps of them easy, and you just have to run them through as fast as you can. So you need to make reload work for you. The experience you will get with pod runes in most cases are as follows:
So if you are leveling your hammermage, keep 2 similar hammers with 0 stats on them, and just run them through till you're lvl 100. You'll pretty much fail 100% due to some bugs in the maging formula today that overruns the 4% minimum success rate. Things gets easier once you hit 40 and 90 respectively where you get the exp boosts. Estimated runes required from lvl 1 to 100 = 20-30k of runes. 60-70 great grower bags will do the job right, and will prob costs about 5k kamas for each bag. So you're looking at 350k kamas for each job from 0 to 100.

Now, to the slightly more complicated jobs such as jewelmagus and shoemagus. They do not have items with 0 stats and that has an impact to the experience you get. You can mage a Nimbly Ring or Lucky Belt, and you will fail terribly (100%), and eventually after 5-10 failures, the Nimbly Ring or Lucky Belt will lose its stats. Here's the tricky bit. If you continue to use pod runes on the 0 stat Nimbly Ring or Lucky Belt, you will start to get success rates and will end up with a whole bunch of rings or belts with different pods on it (Which is frustrating!!! So you should not be doing so.) That's not ALL! When you start to mage the items that has lost stats to 0, you get only 10 exp with pod runes, regardless what level your magus profession is. So you should just grab a whole bunch of "fresh" nimbly rings and lucky belts, and mage them until they turn from fresh to a whole bunch of useless rings / belts with no stats. (You can still trade them for scrolls :P so don't worry)

So in short, if you are leveling a magus job, and there's an item in your profession that has an equipment with no stats by default, you're lucky. Just run the runes and you'll be done. If you are doing jewelmagus and shoemagus, start saving up your nimbly rings and lucky belts. You do not want to work on anything that has more than +1, coz you might end up with a whole bunch of +0 or +1 or +2 or +3 stat points and that is not smart leveling.

I'm tired now... so i'll end here. This should help to get most of you started - i hope :D

Some maging wonders - Keep ogling

Well, there's always risk-taking in life, and here are some very good success with that. The mino ammy started with 24wis and ended up with 45wis. The belt started with 31wis and ending up with 50wis. Have fun ogling guys. These stuffs are both for Greenmonger, greenest enu i've ever met. I'm quite certain if the mino is 50wis, we can get it to 50wis :-)

Smithmagic fun and facts

Well, it's me again. I happen to have made lvl 100 Jewelmagus and Shoemagus a few weeks back and have been playing around with success rates in an effort to demystify the maging success that's been bothering everyone. Do bear in mind, all the results posted here are extracted from real life experiences and testing. Lots of stuffs has been ruined and broken due to the experiments i've conducted for your benefit. Now, before we start, here's a snapshot of my magus job achievements XD I'll start this by giving you some easy-to-understand smithmagic tips and mostly referencing what the worries, unproven assumptions and claims i have read on impsvillage in the past few weeks.
  1. Adding stats which are within the min-max stats range on the item - Good success rate
  2. Adding stats below the min stats range on the item - Very Good success rate
  3. Adding crits/range/heals bonus - Moderate success rate
  4. Adding any stats bonus above max stats range on item - Very Low success rate
  5. Adding any bonus which are not default on the item - Very Low success rate
  6. Adding any bonus on items with +AP or +MP - Low success rate
  7. Adding AP or MP to items with +AP or +MP - Extremely Low success rate
  8. Adding any bonus on items with +Range - Moderate success rate
  9. Adding any bonus to items with high ini and/or high pods - Very Low success rate
  10. Any of the above on "signed" items - Same success rate as per stated respectively

That's about it for now. As i complete more experiments, i'll report with a matrix on the type of runes used tabulated with the conditions. What is missing from the above is the factoring of the total power on the belt. That is somehow a little puzzling at this point. Meanwhile i hope this will help you to better understand the smithmagic system implemented. Cheerios! and happy reading.

Addition -- Here are some guidance on the relativeness of the qualitative success rates

Made Jeweller Profession Lvl 100 too

Been so lazy to maintain this Blog lately. But i felt i need at least post something to inform that i've made Jeweller Lvl 100 :D Thanks to all the guildies and friends for support. The rates for crafting will be the same as for boots / belts as usual. And my commitment to trust, no nonsense crafting services applies as usual.

Getting bored of Dofus lately, and decided also to take down my wings, coz there's just no point having them up and always be conscious abt getting aggro outside, while in wisdom set. There's not much stuffs i require a rank to use anyway. So i'll just play along and go level happy wherever i like / want.

A teasing wonder

The most amazing Teasing Thongs i ever made, with only 1 point off perfect chance. Ogle at it while you can, and if you wanna know who have this, it's a cra named onemanarmy.

I wonder how much this shoe is worth. It definitely is a great pair of shoe for any high-level enu or chance based character with a perfect wisdom for good leveling or AP / MP Resists.

Some worthy crafts to mention this month

I've been a little lazy lately, just lingering around the game, leveling on boring monsters, running around with mount and not really doing much. There are more people coming for crafts, maybe coz the other shoemakers are busy. Finally got down to following up on the blog again and here you go. More screenshots on notable crafts this month :D

Some recent crafts worthy of mention

Alas, with my computer fixed and having Photoshop installed, i've managed to crop the images i've saved previously at random with printscreen and microsoft paint (which apparently does not allow me to crop very easily). It's gonna be a full load of them, so have fun and enjoy them. All of them are for clients and non for me XD.
i can remember some of owners of the following such as Xwanos for one of the xenature, Crimsonstrike for the boowish belt and Stilness for the Flip Flops. Can't remember who the powerful dazz belts are for. I've also made a very good Powerful Dazz Belt for someone in Knights of Amakna guild - a SRAM but i forgot his name. Stats are +1 AP 35life 40wisdom +5dmgs. On top there are other stuffs including another close-to-perfect Xenature for Ironman on my impsvillage post. Have fun ogling!

Scams alert - be careful everyone

There seems to be an increased number of scams where people just run off with materials and at sometimes service fees too. Be careful out there! Some people even commented that i am expensive :( But if you think of it, it's just a small and reasonable price to pay for what potentially can be made for you. That's just a little tip to keep me going and you know you can always trust lomo :)

Just gotten a new computer up and running and practically bare on applications. I can't even do a decent crop with Microsoft Paint >.< There's been some nice crafts lately with a perfect +50 AGI Ditchy belt, a few more perfect STR Orinos (most popularly requested shoes) and some nice animal boots too. Wish i can post the screenshots soon. :D Meanwhile stay alert for scammers out there! And for the scammers reading this, i hope you either quit doing so or quit dofus entirely.

New Trusted Partner - Aliania (Lvl 100 Hammersmith / forgemage)

Welcome a new friend and partner of lomocraft services! Aliania aka Freshapple. She made lvl 100 Hammersmith lately shortly after getting her level 100 Hammer Forgemage. She has other lvl 100 profession as well, which you can find on her crafting service thread over at her blog.

Her rates are published on her website and are highly affordable. I've posted her rates here too for your quick reference.

And lastly if you wish to contact her for a craft, you simply type " /w Aliania ". She's online almost 18hrs a day so i don't think you will have difficulties contacting her. :D And if you do, lodge a complain and perhaps you will get some discounts.

Back to writing again :D

Had a great holiday down in Queenstown New Zealand for some snowboarding fun and other fun activities. Simply love doing the Bungy! :D That's me jumping off the bungy off a ledge extended over the mountains. Simply Love it!

Back to Dofus after a week and couldn't be bothered to update the blog with new information. Just being lazy and too many things to catch up at work. Will be updating some new Lomocrafts partners, such as Aliana who has made Hammersmith and Hammer Forgemage lvl 100. She has built up a nice service section on her website too which i will create the link to it later.

Bought a new IBM ThinkPad T-series and pending delivery; that could mean more Dofus to come!? And in the thought process on considering a Rancilio Silvia Espresson machine with a matching grinder. That's gonna set me back another few hundreds to a thousand. i need to make 10m in Dofus to make up for it. HAHAHA

Gonna make this short and sweet just to let everyone know i'm back. Will also be putting in some Google Metrics tags to track how much traffic i am getting for the blurb i post here. It's fun to see where you get the visits from :D
